New Zealander Craig was born in Palmerston North and raised in Rotorua. When he was 10 Craig was given a 13.2hh dun called Little Chief, who he competed in the Pony Club. Craig tackled his first advanced event at the age of 17 and in 2004 he won the National Advanced Championships and took second place in the World Cup Qualifier at Kihikihi, which earned him a place in the World Cup final in Pau. After an injury to his horse, Bush Ranger, prevented him from competing in the finals, Craig relocated to the UK where he is now based at Boomerang Stables in Hungerford, Berkshire.
Craig has aspired to be a top level, international competitor since childhood. He is highly motivated and determined to succeed. Craig and Spida have attended many top level events including: Kihikihi, Taupo, The Festival of British Eventing, Blenheim, The Scottish Open, Bramham, Chatsworth, Belton & Burghley.
This year he plans to compete in key 3* & 4* events with the aim of culminating the season with another 4* run at Burghley.
Just Ironic (stable name Spida) was bought as a two year old by Craig’s mother Anne and was imported from New Zealand in 2006 from breeder Virginia Caro.
Spida is NZ thoroughbred x Cleveland Bay by Iron Clad out of Bold N Brazen.
Spida is currently competing at 4* level.
